MANDEL JCC TO PARTICIPATE IN 2007 MACCABI ARTSFEST FOR TEENS

Information meeting at the JCC on Wednesday, February 28 at 7:30 pm


The Mandel Jewish Community Center of Cleveland has registered to participate in the 2007 JCC Maccabi ArtsFest® in Deal, New Jersey, on August 12 through 17.  

 

Teens selected for Deal will be able to participate among choices that include multi-media art, classical ensembles/orchestra, computer graphics, creative writing, jazz ensembles, radio broadcasting, rock/pop bands, theater (acting or musical theater), and vocal music.

 

Maccabi ArtsFest is a first for the Cleveland JCC, which plans to put together a delegation of creative, motivated artistic teens for a trip to Deal, New Jersey, a site selected for creative teens from around the country who will meet for ArtsFest 2007.

 

Jewish teens, entering grades 8-12 (minimum age 13 by 7/31/07) from around the country will work together, learn from guest artists, and collaborate on projects. For more information, contact Lisa Cronig at 216-831-0700, ext. 1322 or lcronig@clevejcc.org.

 

Mission of JCC Maccabi ArtsFest

The JCC Maccabi ArtsFest enables JCCs around the country to reach out to a wider teen audience through the arts. ArtsFest is designed to inspire Jewish teens through a dynamic combination of workshop, performance, exhibition, competition, community service, social activities, and fun to develop their individuality through the medium of artistic expression while strengthening their bonds to their Jewish heritage, community and Israel. The first JCC Maccabi ArtsFest was held at the JCC of Greater Baltimore in 2006.

 

Teens that travel to Deal will enjoy home hospitality, social activities, and the opportunity to take part in Days of Caring and Sharing, a community service projects, as well as developing their artistic gifts under the direction of world class artists-in-residence.
